The project Challenge Facility for Civil Society Round 9 entitled “Facilitating Community Engagement Through Organizing” is funded by Stop TB Partnership. The project aims to provide technical assistance to the TB survivors in creating and legalizing a community-led organization that will lobby for the improvement of the TB amendment bill. The organization was named ‘Breathe Free PH (BFPH) Community Advocates Against TB”. The members of the organization are undergoing a series of training to enhance their capacity and skills for meaningful engagement in the TB amendment bill and TB programs.
Previous Activities:
- Strategic Planning – Core Group of BFPH developed a strategic plan for a sustainable organization.
- Public Speaking – Trained the members of the core team on conveying messages that will help in future involvement with the TB Law amendment.
- Leadership Training – This activity enhances the capacity of the members in leadership and management of the organization.
Ongoing and Future Activities:
- Community Formation Meeting – this was conducted monthly to facilitate and discuss the needs, and concerns of the member of the organization. It is also an avenue for learning group sessions among the core group of the BFPH.
- Online Discussion Forum on the TB Amendment Bill – ACHIEVE with BFPH will be conducting Facebook live to discuss the community proposed amended bill.
- TB and Human Rights Training of Trainers – BFPH core group will undergo training on basic human rights and will create a pool of trainers from the group.
- Mentoring and Return Demonstration on TB and Human Rights Training – Trainees of “TB and Human Rights for Facilitators” will continue their learning through online mentoring.
- Community Support Group recognized as a legal entity – ACHIEVE will provide technical assistance in BFPH SEC registration.
